Shopping for OTC items online with your UnitedHealthcare OTC card is easy. You can use the UnitedHealthcare portal or you can download the free, and easy-to-use Chapter OTC App.
Some UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans provide OTC benefits. This benefit usually comes in the form of a card that’s preloaded with money to use on eligible OTC health and wellness items, like bandaids, over-the-counter medications, and more.
With so much shopping being done online these days, many seniors are redeeming their UnitedHealthcare OTC credits online or in apps.
In this guide, we’ll explain the basics of the UHC flex OTC Card, which is often referred to as a UCard. We’ll also guide you through how to use your UCard for online OTC purchases.
When you receive your UCard from UHC, you’ll first need to activate it. To do this, visit activate.uhc.com. Once you activate your card, you can use it at select retailers.

Many UHC members find it frustrating to look for a store near them that accepts the UCard. Even if you do find a convenient store that accepts your UCard, confirming items are eligible can be difficult in a store. The UHC app does have a scanner to help you determine if objects are eligible—but many people find it easier to just shop OTC catalogs online.
If you choose to shop online, you can use the UHC website or app.
Use the app to browse, add items to your cart, and check out just like you would with any other online shopping app. Which OTC items are eligible depends on your plan. Some UHC plans may include grocery benefits, expanding your list of eligible items.
Some Medicare Advantage OTC cards receive funds monthly and some receive them quarterly. Check your plan’s details to know when your funds will be added to your card and set a reminder so you never miss out on using your cost-saving benefit!
