Many Wellcare Medicare Advantage plans include an Over-the-Counter (OTC) benefit that you can use to purchase everyday health and wellness products, like cold and flu remedies, allergy medicine, first aid supplies, and incontinence products. Wellcare’s OTC benefits are delivered via a Wellcare Spendables card that is auto-loaded with your OTC allowance each month.
For many members, the easiest way to use their Wellcare OTC benefit is by shopping online. Ordering online makes it simple to browse eligible items and avoid guesswork.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the basics of how Wellcare OTC benefits work and explain how to use your OTC card to shop online.
If your Wellcare Medicare Advantage plan includes an OTC benefit, you will receive a Wellcare Spendables care in the mail that is reloaded every month with your OTC allowance.
A few important reminders:
Use it before it expires. Any unused OTC funds do not roll over.
Shop online or in-store. You can use your card online or at participating retailers.
Buy only eligible items. Your OTC allowance can only be used for approved products.
Many people prefer shopping online to avoid the hassle of looking up items on the go or experiencing confusion when checking out.
Let’s walk through how to place an online OTC order in just three simple steps.
Go to your Wellcare member portal, then click “Wellcare Spendables.” This will take you to the Wellcare Spendables page. To activate your card, call 1-833-647-9661 (TTY 711). You can do this 24/7. You can also download the Healthy Benefits+ app and create an account to activate your card.
Wellcare partners with different retailers to allow you to use your benefit in stores. You can find local stores near you using the Store Finder in the member portal.
You can also, of course, shop online using your Wellcare Spendables OTC card. Unfortunately, shopping online still requires looking up items in your member portal to be sure they are eligible.
